Application for Training

Overview

The Kosovo Improvement Through Education (KITE) Program aims to facilitate short- to medium-term improvements in business and NGO performance to offset impacts of the global financial crisis.  These improvements will be a direct result of targeted, specific and individualized trainings for individual staff members from Kosovar businesses and NGOs.  The ultimate goal of the KITE program is to provide businesses and NGOs with the tools necessary to successfully grow their businesses, increase the quality and quantity of services/products provided, and increases their workforce.

Eligible Participants:
Staff of Kosovar Businesses and NGOs that would benefit from technical and industry-specific trainings.

Application Process:
For in-country trainings, Businesses and NGOs will be asked to complete a needs assessment and identify and nominate staff members who would benefit from specific targeted trainings.

For US Based trainings, the individual employee will need to complete a more detailed application which includes an essay, Employer Support and Authorization Form, and Recommendations.

Types of Trainings Available:
Programs will be directed toward helping businesses and NGOs to upgrade their management and technical capacities with the objective of becoming more competitive and consequently, creating more jobs.   Trainings will be designed based on the needs of the participant selected, but will likely focus on information technology, major donor fundraising, strategic planning, governance, communications, budgeting, risk management, etc.

  1. Professional development courses at U.S. universities, community colleges or training institutes for up to 6 months (Summer 2012)

These educational opportunities will provide Kosovar staff with focused, applicable, and highly technical knowledge about a particular subject.  Staff will return to their businesses or organizations with the knowledge required, for example, to operate or repair machinery, implement a new business practice, or oversee expansion into a related field of activity.

  1. 1-2 week individualized, in-country coaching sessions

These trainings will help businesses or organizations that have relevant technical expertise but lack the strategic vision to implement it properly.

  1. Tailored short-term, in-country training courses

If a number of businesses or organizations display a need for a particular skill, an expert will be brought to Kosovo to conduct an in-country training.
